The City of Weslaco has five public parks and recreation centers; a growing independent school district (WISD); and fully-staffed police, fire and rescue departments. Weslaco Independent School District

WISD is comprised of 21 schools; 12 elementary campuses; four middle schools; and four high schools. WISD offers its students a “complete” educational program with a variety of athletic and extracurricular activities. Each campus is equipped with all of the learning tools necessary for students to enjoy a rich and high-quality learning experience each school year. South Texas College (STC)

STC is a public community college in the Rio Grande Valley region of South Texas and is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges. The college is well known in higher education circles for its diverse student body and for operating one of the largest dual enrollment/early college high school programs in the United States. Parks & Local amenities

The Parks and Recreation Department is dedicated to enriching the quality of life for present and future generations of Weslaco residents. The department operates five parks throughout the City of Weslaco with a variety of amenities and athletic venues. The Rio Grande Valley is served by more than 500 licensed physicians through a diverse network of private practice offices, urgent care clinics, freestanding emergency centers and community and regional hospital facilities.
